Irrigation Water Project
EcoWatch has also taken serious notice of the uncontrolled urban development and industrial activities that are polluting the Lahore Canal causing numerous problems. The Lahore Canal is being used for the deposing off solid waste and industrial emissions. Another harmful activity is the washing of chemical plastic bags and sacks in the canal. The toxic materials from these bags are dangerously contaminating the water of the canal which is ultimately used for the irrigation purposes. Thus, these chemicals get into the food chain. This contamination is a major reason of diseases like Anaemia, Cholera, Malaria, Fluorosis, Hepatitis, Typhoid, Scabies, Diarrhoea , Tachoma , Tinea and Leptospirosis.
